M*A*S*H vs. A Band of Brothers.
after recently watching both programs for a considerable amount of time. There are many differenaces in the two shows albeit, they have that same war theme.
Mash= more of a comical show, set in the Korean war. The overall comedy is very bland as compared to other comedic programs today.
A Band of Brothers= about WWII, much more indepth as to war reality. more brutality, probably something you wouldn't see at the time MASH aired.

ReplyDeleteomre info about BOB which is directed by Tom Hanks ans Stephen Speilberg.
You state there are many differences between both "war" TV series, yet only really note the amount of graphical content shown, along with the basis of comedy displayed. What other differences were visible between both shows? I know that MASH was considered a favorite back in the day and was shown on TV for more than 10 years. You note that visually a "Band of Brothers" is more realistic, however MASH was based on true experiences faced by doctors. Do you think that the angle TV has taken on war today creates a better perception of actual experiences just because of the choice to use stronger graphical content?
ReplyDeleteBland? *pouts* I like Allen Alda.
ReplyDeleteI actually don't know much about M*A*S*H, but I've heard that It can be surprisingly insightful. (And the theme tune is the most depressing one ever.) I've heard good things about Band of Brothers. Do you recommend it?
